Stan Silverman has lived and worked in and around Birmingham and Solihull for most of his adult life, having studied medicine at Birmingham University and undertaking his postgraduate training in General and Vascular surgery in the West Midlands.
He was a Consultant Vascular Surgeon for 24 years, initially in Dudley but moving to City Hospital in 1992. As a result of clinical network arrangements, he also worked at Sandwell, Walsall, Selly Oak and Queen Elizabeth hospitals throughout his Consultant career.
Stan has held a wide range of management and leadership posts including Royal College of Surgeons Director for Professional Affairs, Medical Director at West Midlands Strategic Health Authority, and Deputy Medical Director at NHS Improvement. As a result, he has wide experience in clinical governance, patient safety, NHS regulation, service reconfiguration and medical leadership, and medical engagement.
He arrived at his current role as Secondary Care Consultant for NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG following a period as Medical Director at Ernst and Young.
