Largest clinical commissioning group announces the appointment of new Chief Finance Officer

Paul AtheyThe largest clinical commissioning group (CCG) in the country, NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG, has appointed Paul Athey to the post of Chief Finance Officer. Paul is currently the Acting Chief Executive Officer at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in Birmingham.

In his two years as Acting Chief Executive Officer, Paul has supported the hospital to improve their regulatory and financial positions, as well as decreasing referral to treatment times. Before his Acting CEO role, he served as Executive Director of Finance and Performance.

Paul Jennings, Chief Executive of NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG, said: “I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Paul Athey as our new Chief Finance Officer. Paul brings with him 20 years of NHS experience, earned across a range of organisations. I look forward to Paul joining our team and contributing to the great work being done for the people of Birmingham and Solihull.”
