Statement on decision to close Mere Green Surgery
Karen Helliwell, Director of Integration at NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “Following a period of patient engagement, the application from Midlands Medical Partnership (MMP) to close its Mere Green Surgery site was approved at the CCG’s Primary Care Commissioning Committee in July.
“The site will close on 31 October 2019, allowing for a three-month notice period in which the registered patients can choose to either transfer to another MMP surgery, or register at an alternative local surgery. All patients registered at the surgery will be notified, and both MMP and the CCG will be offering support to patients to register at another surgery, if required.
“We understand that some patients will be upset and inconvenienced by this news, but we would like to reassure all patients that no one will be left without a GP as a result of the closure.”
Patients can find out which GP surgeries are local to them by visiting www.nhs.uk and typing in their postcode.
Alternatively, they can call NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG’s primary care helpline on 0121 203 3347, for further help and advice.
