Paul Jennings, Chief Executive of NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “We are acutely aware of the concerns regarding patient access to out-of-hours GP services over winter, following the recent news that Primecare will no longer be providing the service.
“The contract that the CCG holds with Primecare covers 24 practices. This is in the process of being transferred to Badger Group, a primary healthcare organisation that provides GP out-of-hours services in Birmingham. The service will be transferred on 3 December 2018.
“The CCG has contingency plans in place to support the 14 practices that hold direct sub-contracts with Primecare. A number of these practices have joined the CCG's contract, while the others are in the process of agreeing their own sub-contract with Badger Group.
“Badger Group have confirmed that they are able to manage the out-of-hours services for these practices. Patient access to GP out-of-hours services should not be affected by the transfer of these services.”
